Kid's Book

Ok, random post.
I wanna write/illustrate a children's book.
I guess this color theory project is having a fun effect on me haha.
Soooo, I think I'm gonna get together with a friend soon and see if we can do it.
Wish us luck!

The Company Kang

So the last music was was a little li-fi, so i figured it was time for some good spring electro-pop. This band, The Company Kang is a group of guys now spread across the country(Seattle, Chicago, NY), yet still making music together. It's some pretty great, chill, relaxed spring sounds that's perfect for hanging out at home, getting ready for the summer. Give it a listen!

RomkaMagazine

Ok, this is one of the coolest online mags I've found yet. It's sooo beautiful. Basically...
"ROMKA is an online magazine which features the personal favorite photographs of international artists, amateurs and professionals. It is dedicated to the idea of showing one's treasures without the pressure of self-portrayal and a clean online portfolio..."
So it's a photography magazine, but so much more than that because anyone can submit the pictures and the purpose is to show people's favorite pictures and thoughts, not just 'quality' work. The authenticity makes it so beautiful. I guess it's kinda like a postsecret/photography magazine? Without the emo-ness. Anyways they have just two issues out right now, but each one is awesome.

Guitar

Without music life would be a mistake - Nietzche
So I decided to dust off my guitar today. Ha, not an overstatement. Had to actually blow the dust off my case. My guitar's missed me I think. I really didn't do anything productive, and after such a long time (prolly only played my guitar once in the past year or two, see i don't even know when the last time was, wow...) without playing, it was like talking to an old friend. Miss playing all the time, maybe I'll get to play a bit more once school is over (two more weeks, yiiikes, so many projects left... lol). Hope so

Song of Myself

The smoke of my own breath;

Echoes, ripples, buzz’d whispers, love-root, silk-thread, crotch and vine;
My respiration and inspiration, the beating of my heart, the passing of blood and air through my lungs;  15
The sniff of green leaves and dry leaves, and of the shore, and dark-color’d sea-rocks, and of hay in the barn;
The sound of the belch’d words of my voice, words loos’d to the eddies of the wind;
A few light kisses, a few embraces, a reaching around of arms;
The play of shine and shade on the trees as the supple boughs wag;
The delight alone, or in the rush of the streets, or along the fields and hill-sides;  20
The feeling of health, the full-noon trill, the song of me rising from bed and meeting the sun.

Have you reckon’d a thousand acres much? have you reckon’d the earth much?
Have you practis’d so long to learn to read?
Have you felt so proud to get at the meaning of poems?

Stop this day and night with me, and you shall possess the origin of all poems;  25
You shall possess the good of the earth and sun—(there are millions of suns left;)
You shall no longer take things at second or third hand, nor look through the eyes of the dead, nor feed on the spectres in books;
You shall not look through my eyes either, nor take things from me:
You shall listen to all sides, and filter them from yourself.

Dallas Clayton

Can I just say that I could read Dallas Clayton's blog/portfolio all day?
He's got these like really randomly simple bits of prose with these super simple illustrations that feel like you're reading a children's book but the content totally isn't. Here's an excerpt and with one of his illustrations.

"A powerful song
is one
that makes me remember
something
that never actually happened to me."

Totally awesome.
Anyways, check it out here.

Leica

Ok yeah I know, I know. Usually I try not to want things that are way out of my price range. I'm totally  not one of those kids that always wants more things, or wants unrealistically expensive things. Buuuuut, i really want a M8 haha. Can you blame me? Hmmm, maybe I need a real job before I can afford fun toys like this. Till then, I'll just wish!

Rob Chiu

Sometimes you just come across stuff that's inspiring.

This is by Motion Designer, Director of Film and Photography; Rob Chiu
Such beautiful work.
Makes me wanna be a motion designer.
Maybe I'll learn some motion programs after I get my graphic schooling done.
Anyways, hope you enjoy his new 2009 reel.
Maybe get some inspiration too! :)

Cloak

Ok, so I really wanna get a cloak.
I don't know if it's because it was featured in the Y-3 runway show this year.
Or maybe it's cuz I just finished A Farewell to Arms, everyone wearing cloaks.
Or perhaps I watch LOTR a little too often.
I just wanna be warm and safe,
wrapped in security.

For real tho, would be cool if I made one out of a bed sheet and started wearing it around?

Groove

With surgery and everything, I've been just chilling for a bit, but you know; but all this sitting has left me time to ponder about the important things in life. The things you take for granted. I want to get better so I can get back to the best of them.

I just wanna dance,
I just wanna "groove".
       Is that too much to ask?

Just wanna groove,
      and meet true love,
      and move in slow motion during the meaningful moments.
Just wanna dance.

The Skinny

Maybe I should start checking out the local scene in L.A.?
I'll hang out with Becks and we'll go to the clubs.

Life on Mars

Holy Crap!

Did anyone else watch the season (lol most likely series) finale of Life on Mars?? Like, they were actually on mars!! Wha' da fuck? Seriously? Ha, that was unexpected. Was I the only one surprised??

Ok, to catch anyone else up that may never have watched it. The show was about a dude (Sam Tyler) who is a cop in 2008. He's doing something (expect me to remember that?), like trying to save his gf or something, when he gets hit by a car; and then wakes up in 1973.

(spoilers here kids)

So long story short, he's chilling in 1973 trying to get back "home"(2008) but ya know, he's also like kicking ass and making friends (as a cop) in 73'.

So final episode:
Episode strolls cheerily along like most cop dramas do, till the end, when he finishes his mission, gets told he's going home by some creepy dude on a phone, and then WHAM!!!

He wakes up on a spaceship (with all the same actors there with him) in 2035 on a mission to mars. Ha so he IS on mars for real? Or is this one of his crazy dreams?

Man, I gotta figure this out, I...
...I dont know what to say...

Should I stop watching bad cop dramas with Harvey Keitel in them? Especially if they are CSI/STAR WARS kinda cop dramas?

Remember when it was just about being in 1973 and confused?

Simpler Times...

Jap Rap

Lupe in a british post-punk band?
Maybe not?

Either way these tunes are pretty sick.
